i just hope the same thing doesn't happen in iowa as it did in California....
interesting note tho... if it is gonna be a referendum the soonest it will be on the ballot is 2012, which means a long time for gay marriage to gain support

the courts will be our solution not the politicians I believe. ain't it great and we had a referendum in MA a couple of years after the gay marriage was passed and it failed miserably here
i think what is important about iowa case is it is in the midwest and it wil be here to stay for years. The conservative heart of america and where each presidential election begins.
No longer is it just us crazies from the coasts nope gay marriage is ok in the heartland and this will help immensely
"We are firmly convinced the exclusion of gay and lesbian people from the institution of civil marriage does not substantially further any important governmental objective," the Supreme Court wrote.
for those worried about cali it may lose there (there will be a deciaion by june in the case) but what the iowa court wrote and if you read the massachusetts decision also they point out that these laws banning our rights will not survive a challenge in the federal courts
there is no important government reason to prevent us from being married, without which the law is a violation of our constitution and most states constitutions. Not even the chief justice or scalia will be able to stand in the way of the 14th amendment
lets hope that IOWA is the start of somethng new in the states and a domino effect will occur.
oh yeah and thanks to melissa e. for what she is doing also by challenging the tax laws about marriage on the fed level and maybe the downfall of DOMA another unconstitutional law we have here, if we are lucky
