I often wonder about the probably gay boy in high school or junior high...who late at night gets online and Googles his way here, or to somethingsaboutme, or alwayshard... or pictureperfect, Where I Stand, or charlie's blog, etc. [see my blog list...]
Maybe all he can do is read and can not even manage the nerve to respond! Even anonymously. Because even using a keyboard to admit he sometimes gets hot for boys is just too much to handle so far. But he's reading the blogs. He sees a story and wants to keep up.
So we bloggers form his support group. He kind of gets to "know" us in a sort of surprisingly close way. He sees that he is not alone. At 12 or 13 or 14... he's likely to feel very alone, different, even bad.
Maybe a little bit at a time he starts to feel maybe just maybe kinda sorta OK to get that gay feeling going. Perhaps he looks a little bit longer at hottie Jay [you know, he smiled at him last week!] on the swim team who he can not even manage to talk to without sounding like a damn dork. He sees guys here who are just a little older who have gone through a process he can HARDly conceive of. But they seem OK. They seem cool. They seem NICE, damnit. Jeeze... they have boyfriends. They have ginormous crushes on their best friends. [...just like me..wow..] He wonders again about inviting Billy for a sleep over.
So Johnny, or Timmy, or Erik, Blake, Chad, Danny, Paul, Lyle, Bobby [the cute one with red hair...remember him] ...we bloggers figure you are OUT there and watching. We want you to know it's cool. Hell, you might be gay or might not. You may just want time to figure it all out. And you will! Getting pubic hair and that first wet dream was compelling enough, huh?
Guys, it's a process. Each process is different. You get to be you! So enjoy. Maybe respond anonymously a little bit. When you are ready. Besides the porn sites, come by once in a while and enjoy knowing that there are lots of guys JUST LIKE YOU. We really do understand how you are feeling. There's lots more to all this than Internet nudie boys. Cute and yummy as they are, they are just part of it.
OK?

if you posted nude guys on your blog, then we could have both. :P
seriously, though...i hope guys who are struggling to find their way, i hope they do. and with as little grief and crap as possible. i hope we can pave their way and make it at least just a little easier than ours.
very nice post :)
When school starts I will pass your
blog address to a couple of the
students. I hope you don't mind.
Hugs!!
I hope no kids use my blog for some kind of guidance, lol. I don't think I would be a great examples for kids. You, on the other hand, are great, steevo!
I loved this post. Good work Steevo! It's so true though. The part about reading about lives of people who have gone through what the anonymous reader can't even imagine doing and then them being fine afterwards really touched me. Thanks.
